first Polish car design engineer featured a four-cylinder overhead valve engine made of light alloys. Its production continued for four years, in short series and various versions. Fiat files stored in Turin contain a most interesting handwritten paper dated January 10, 1921. It might be worthwhile to quote some excerpts from that document considered extremely significant for the history of the Polish automotive industry: “The Principals undertake a major and costly endeavor, heedless of truly burdensome economic conditions, particularly the uncertain political environment in which the newly reborn Poland must now operate, but with fervent hopes that the nation’s creative genius shall overcome even the most dire adversities.” The document also hints at a “looming danger of onslaught from the East”, meaning Bolshevik Russia which several months earlier had negotiated a cease-fire with Poland but peace treaty negotiations were dragging on.
